In my work, I am continuously amazed at the insight and strength that each client brings into the room. There is a uniqueness to each story and I am honored to have the chance to walk alongside you as we carefully start to unravel your story and learn about the root causes of behaviors, thought patterns, and emotions. We will do this together with a relationship that is built on trust which will allow you to feel encouraged to dig deeper.
I approach counseling through an integrated lens which includes psychodynamic theory and cognitive behavioral therapy. Through this lens, I believe that people are influenced and impacted by their upbringing which can lead to negative ways of thinking, behaving, and interacting with others. We are all capable of change once what is hidden in the unconscious is brought to awareness. Using cognitive behavioral therapy tools, we can work together to learn new skills that will help the growth process. I believe that all people have the capacity to change and that all people have what they need to change within themselves. Building a healthy, strong relationship with you through a true desire to understand and provide compassion and gentleness is at the heart of my practice.
I received a Masters of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Corban University. Major coursework that I have completed includes Theories and Skills, Introduction to Addictions, Psychopathology, Psychopharmacology, Lifespan Development, Group work, Career and Life planning, Multiculturalism and Diversity, Ethics, and Research and Assessments.
