Moriah Hager, LPC intern, Therapist
Hello and welcome. I’m glad you’re choosing to seek help and support. I believe that each of us is innately capable of attaining the goals, hopes, and dreams we have for our mental wellness. And that sometimes we need support and help in reaching those aspirations. As a therapist my job and intention will be to help you work towards those goals in an environment that provides safety, trust, and compassion.
Rather than asking “what’s wrong with you?” I want to know and explore “What has happened to you?” What has happened to you that you engage in patterns of behavior, or relationship, that aren’t serving you or helping you anymore? These old ways of being and doing have had a purpose in the past but are now no longer needed in order for you to continue to grow in your life. My education and training in trauma informed care has helped me to build a deep understanding of how the mind, brain, and body process and interpret events so that we can survive them and carry on, but sometimes the brain and body have a hard time letting go of old behaviors and ways of thinking that are no longer necessary. And it is these old ways of thinking and doing that can lead to depression, anxiety, shame, eating disorder, addiction, PTSD, and relationship problems. I also work with individuals who identify as gender non-conforming, transgender, LGBTQIA+, and military personnel and their family members. I believe we can work together to tap into your innate power and strength that will allow you to live the life you want for yourself.
Therapy is most effective when you and I can work together to determine your mental health and wellness goals. I follow a client centered approach, meaning you take the lead in where sessions go and how much progress and growth is made, and I will be here beside you serving as a guide and offering support and challenge where needed. We will work together to realize your goals and find your unique path to healing. I honor the courage and strength it takes to begin this journey and encourage you to take another step towards wellness and peace by contacting me today.
