My approach is rooted in the application of Internal Family Systems (IFS), an experiential model of therapy that views distressing patterns of thought, emotion, physical sensation, and behavior as emerging from parts of the mind that are often trying to help keep us safe. These parts have learned to respond in the ways that they do for a good reason, even if we don’t know that reason yet. In our work together, we can safely venture into developing new forms of relationships with the various parts of your internal experience, so that these parts can learn to relax and enjoy more of life.
Our work together will support connection, compassion, and curiosity, so that the therapeutic relationship we develop provides a safe haven and a secure base for inner exploration and growth. I approach my work with the deep humility of being a fellow traveler in the turbulent experience of being a person, along with confidence in the opportunities that therapy provides to assist folks in establishing a connection to their authentic self - allowing for an increase in experiences of energy, vitality, openness, and aliveness.

I  work with adults and adolescents who face challenges related to: anxiety; depression; the legacies of traumatic experiences; low self-esteem; and difficult life transitions. In addition to IFS, I often integrate practices from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT) to assist clients in relating to their distress with mindfulness and self-compassion, with the goal to increase opportunities that support you to act in ways that move you in the direction of your values.

“The curious paradox is that when I accept myself just as I am, then I can change.” - Carl R. Rogers
